Welcome to the University of Maryland Landscape Architecture Program
To Our Prospective
and Present Students,
Our Valued Partners and Friends,
and Our Cherished Alumni,
The faculty,
staff, students, and alums join me in extending to you a warm welcome in 2008.
This is a very exciting year for us. This past fall, the new Master of Landscape Architecture (MLA) was approved and we will be accepting students in the graduate program starting fall 2008. More information will be posted soon. In addition, our undergraduate program continues to prosper. This summer 2008 we will be teaching in the Young Scholars Program - current High School students check it out !.
At the University of Maryland we offer an accredited undergraduate four-year curriculum leading to the professional Bachelor of Landscape Architecture (BLA)
degree and will offer in fall 2008 a Master of Landscape Architecture (MLA). We are housed in the Plant Sciences Building, built in 1997
and located in the heart of the College Park campus. We are fortunate
to have up-to-date computer technology as part of the Digital Studio and we make every effort to integrate the digital
world with our assessment of the landscape, the process for design,
and the communication of ideas.
Our undergraduate studio classes are relatively small at approximately 16-18 students and we anticipate that our graduate studios will be 12-15 students.
Our professors are always on hand to meet with students individually.
The faculty also advises each student every semester with course
scheduling, curriculum requirements, and career planning. We offer
community participation initiatives, study abroad programs, and
professional internships that broaden the students’ experience
beyond the classroom.
